Me and my girlfriend sugars
May 17, 2007
Yesterday after dinner, I was 5.1 and she was 4.9.
Then, we ate some more because we got hungry…
However, this morning my blood sugar was 4.6 and my girlfriend’s bloodsugar was 4.6 too!
That’s a huge success!

According to ayurveda…

According to ayurveda… one should eat no more than two handfuls of food per meal, otherwise you get toxins.
Also you should chew your food 32 times before ingestingit

Getting back on track…
April 16, 2007
Following the promising results I got in mt 26th of March blood exams, I’ve gotten a bit off track with my diet, as you can see here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pS7hfLkkdU4wlx5x7Q6QnQg
But now I can declare my celebrations officially closed, so I’ve started again to monitor very closely what I eat.
A1C Test: 5.5!
March 30, 2007
Today I got back the results from my latest blood exams, and they were super!
The A1C value (also called HbA1c) was down to 5.5, from 6.6 it was 6 months ago.
I was very pleased with the results, although I was expecting them to be good… after all that hard work! However, i want them to get even better in the next 6 months… in the last week or so, my blood sugars have not been very good, but I’ve been sick (damn flu)… as soon as I’ll recover completely, I’ll start again exercising and they should get better.
So, now I’m going celebrate with an ice cream!
…
just kidding
Tulsi Tea
March 9, 2007
Hi everyone.
I am not sure yet, but it looks like Tulsi (aka Holy Basil) Tea might be very helpful in keeping blood sugars low! O___O I’ve been trying it recently and it seems like it works… nothing spectacular of course, still can be worth trying out!
useful foods…
January 30, 2007
I guess it happens to every diabetic pperson… every now and then we are told by TV/books/internet that this or that herb/food is useful in keeping sugar levels down. It would be great to have a list that clearly states which foods help us, plus perhaps a link to some webpage with some explanation.
I think I’ll create a new section in my blog, called “Helpful foods“. Or something like that.
1 month
January 18, 2007
Hello people.
It’s been one month since I started my new diet. As usual here you can see my blood sugar levels.
I think I’m doing pretty well. I just had a difficult week though… I’ve been stomach sick for a few days and by sugar levels were a bit off the mark… the sickness was caused by eating too much chana dal (aka yellow split peas) in too short time, i guess… but now I’m getting back on track.
I’m sticking to the extravirgin cold pressed olive oil and linseed oil. I use them “cold”, I don’t warm them to not ruin their qualities.
I’ve noticed barley and red rice both make by sugars go up a bit (not like white rice though) so I’ll try to avoid them. Whole spelt grain and rye grain are ok. Basically this is expected if you have a look at any glicemic index/load table, but now… well, i’m sure about it.
I found out a good breakfast needs some carbs (I love porridge) but also some veggies help a lot in keeping the sugars low after breakfast. I did this experiment this morning, I ate some porridge (not much…), some grilled zucchini and some leek (similar to onions=very good). The Blood sugars stayed still, with 95 before and after breakfast.
During this month I’ve used a lot of herbal teas, and found out that ginseng seems to help with BS. One of my fave ginseng teas is “Triple Ginseng” by Dr. Stuart.
That’s it for now!
Have fun
Alex
So far so good
January 13, 2007
The glicemic values are still good.
I noticed onions really help in lowering sugar levels… i try to eat them everyday, specially in the evening! Also I seem to have noticed that now it’s easier for blood sugar levels to go down…
Let me explain: previously, if before going to bed my sugars were high (say, 140 or 150 – aka 7,5-8,5) i could have been pretty sure that when waking up the values would have been that high, possibly more.
Now, after almost a month since I started my new diet, I can be sure of the contrary… if my sugar levels are 110 (6,3) in the morning they will be lower, like 90 or so (5,2).
So I really am satisfied and if you are reading this blog because you have diabetes type 2 please try a stricter diet using Linseed (flaxseed) oil a lot (also use xtravirgin olive oil).
Here the link to my google spreadsheet.
